The run involved a bit of everything. A slow start to the season, saw the team bedding in and we thought the best place to do that was to be very close to the bottom of the league. Having achieved this first goal, we pushed on. A flurry of goals, a red card (he hit me first ref!), an own goal (yes Paul, the keeper could've stopped it...if he'd seen it!) and the team were on a roll.
Eating up the positions during September and October, every week we seemed to climb a place....until.....we again came up against the top of our league (who had previously beaten us convincingly.....and BEAT THEM.....come on!!!!!!
Only the team at the top of the other corporate league in Sheffield, which was South Yorkshire Police, stood between VOICE and overall victory. And to be fair, they do a great job for the community don't they? Where would be without the Police to look after us, is kind of how we were thinking. So that, and the fact that they kicked us very hard at every opportunity, meant that VOICE are Runners up in our first year of entry into the Sheffield Corporate League....and we're very proud of ourselves!! AT VOICE we win in the end...watch out for us in Year 2!!
